We're All In The Same Dugout by Bruce Satterfield

REPRINT from AJ Letter of the Day from June 20,2009

There was a great "Letter of the Day" printed June 16 because it greatly illustrates what is wrong with dogmatic thinking. The letter writer uses the metaphor of a baseball game to show how the liberals (anyone who is not as conservative as he is) are at bat now in government. He hopes they strike out and retire the side. What he fails to realize is we are all in the same dugout. Carrying that metaphor further, if that batter can get a run it does not matter if he is a left fielder or a right fielder, our entire team will benefit. If "they" strike out, as the letter writer wishes, we all strike out.

In Lubbock it's the Republicans in the dugout and on the field. The Democrats are in the bullpen or dressing room on disabled list. Lubbock has one party government, the
(R)epulsive "big government".

This editor believes that "sour grape loser" republicans want the Obama Administration to fail so they can return to power. Republicans have become the "Our Way or No Way" party and that has led them directly to the "loser's circle"
