LCR is not a "fair&balanced" publication. It never has been and never will be. No blog,newspaper,TV station or radio station is designed that way. Every media outlet,especially blogs,has an agenda. Agendas are like platforms that political parties and politicians have. Here's LCR's and Clif Burnett's agenda/platform.
A. Publish public record that reveals where tax dollars are spent.
B. Expose elected and appointed officials names and misdeeds that are either newsworthy or unacceptable in conduct. Unacceptable is defined as illegal,unethical,immoral or wasteful.
C. Inform the people about current events that are funny,offbeat or not reported by local media.
D. Allow other citizens a forum to express their views if LCR/Clif Burnett shares that view. Different takes or expansion on LCR's view is always good.
E. Reminding the public that it's always "open season" on government workers and elected/appointed officials since they are big government and the many have to pay taxes so the few can enjoy the fruits of big government.
F. Providing information about big government,taxes thereof,that local media neglect since local media is a tool and hand maiden of big government.
LCR/Clif Burnett have long subscribed to the "Kenneth May" theory of journalism. No subject is out of bounds but profanity should be limited and reasonable taste in adjectives should be used. LCR/Clif Burnett also uses the "Dirk West" theory that not one person is above being "made fun of".
You ask who the hell is Kenneth May. Mr.May was famous/infamous for his "One Man's Opinion" column at Lubbock AJ when this editor was a cub newstip guy that wrote letters to the editor in the 70's,80's and 90's before LCR was invented. Mr.May could singlehandedly do 500 words on any citizen or government and slice up the subject like Swiss cheese. For those not aware of Dirk West he was the greatest cartoonist to come down the pike and he could destroy any person, business, politician or government entity with his artwork and short comments with said artwork. Dirk West sent more Texas Tech football coaches to other jobs that any person in Lubbock history. Dirk West invented Raider Red(little fella with mustache) and "BooBird". "Boobird" was Raider Red's large parrot that sat on his shoulder and talked in the comics.
Mr.May and Mr.West are Clif Burnett's inspiration to continue to insult,expose and humiliate targets that deserve it. Thx,Kenneth and Dirk!

FORT WORTH, Texas (AP) - Testimony continues in the punishment phase of former major league outfielder Mel Hall's sexual assault trial. Jurors were hearing testimony Wednesday about Hall, 48, who was convicted the day before of sexually assaulting a 12-year-old girl he coached on an elite basketball team. He faces up to life in prison after being convicted on three counts of aggravated sexual assault of a child and two counts of indecency with a child. Hall's 13-year major league career ended in 1996. He hit .276 with 134 home runs and 620 RBIs in a career that included stints with the Chicago Cubs, Cleveland Indians, New York Yankees and San Francisco Giants. He also played four years in Japan.
