AJ is now reporting,AFTER this blog published 1420 NewsRadio report that LEDA would announce incentive packages, that taxpayers will dole out over $500,000 to Tyler Industries and Mrs.Baird's Bakery. A concerned reader contacted this editor denying any "stimulus money" from Obama or Bush was involved. The "stimulus money" comes from local taxpayers wallets that are called sales and/or property tax revenues. These two incentive packages will cost local taxpayers nearly $10,000 a week for a whole year.

Horse luvr doing his thing

MARLIN,Texas — Jamie Hoover slowly limps to his pasture, still recovering from hernia surgery two days earlier. On this day, though, he puts his rehabilitation aside to visit his own patient, a 960-pound horse named Becky. Becky is the namesake of Hoover’s newly formed horse rescue organization, Becky’s Hope. The Marlin-based charity will be the first of its kind in Falls County, with ambitions of rescuing and rehabilitating neglected and abused horses in Central Texas. "Our main focus is to get them into a good home where they can be loved and not mistreated," Hoover said.____(Chad Shanks/Waco Tribune-Herald copy/screen capture)

LEDA officials say two local companies will be expanding their work force. Tyler Technologies will announce 107 high-tech jobs over the next two years. And Mrs. Baird’s Bakery, increase its workforce, creating 16 new jobs in its Lubbock plant on east Broadway. Tyler’s Lubbock division, is the largest provider and developer of municipal court and city financial software in Texas. Tyler just signed a $2.2 million deal with the City of San Antonio. The company is building a $12.5 million facility near Chicago Avenue at 53rd Street._____(1420 NewsRadio/Dave Walker copy)
______

This is good news for unemployed Lubbockites as over 100 jobs could be created over a 2-year period. That's about 1 per week and these are private sector jobs that will put some people to work. LEDA is a City of Lubbock jobs promoter so it's unclear what kind of government aid is involved,if any. _______________________________________________
