Three million dollars in state funding that was removed from pre-school education programs of the Lubbock Independent School District by the Texas Education Agency has been restored, State Sen. Bob Duncan. Duncan had attempted to generate new funding before the end of the 2009 legislative session by adding an amendment to another bill, but the legislation was vetoed by Gov. Rick Perry. After refiguring the Texas Assessment of Knowledge and Skills tests of third-grade students, the TEA restored the pre-school funding to the Lubbock, Levelland and Lamesa ISDs, Duncan said.____(Joe Gulick AVALANCHE-JOURNAL copy)_____
Bob Duncan(State Senator,Lubbock-R) has restored $3,000,000 in "pork" to LISD budget by getting the TAKS test refigured. Levelland and Lamesa also will get some "pork" Perry vetoed. It appears Perry's veto pen is non-functional these days.
