Fort Davis, Texas - In Fort Davis, dry and windy weather turned fire warnings into a scary situation. Luckily, the massive wildfire that threatened over a dozen mountainside homes in Fort Davis is now out, but it's been a very tough couple of days for Fort Davis firefighters. This afternoon(Wednesday), the Texas Forest Service(Bill Davis) had crews on foot putting out and monitoring hot spots. This fire started Tuesday night on the north side of Arabella Mountain by the Limpia subdivision. In all, over 700 acres were charred according to fire officials. They say, originally, they got the fire out yesterday, but rough terrain, high winds and even vegetation had them battling the blaze again. Many fire crews were on hand to fight the fire. Flame retardant was dropped, and several more water trucks and 5-man crews were brought in from as far away as California. Luckily, no homes were damaged and no injuries were reported in this blaze.____(Odessa TV copy)FIRE ALERT in TEXAS as the parched conditions continue as "Mother Nature" keeps the water turned off from the "unrepentant sinners of Texas".
